The small and relatively remote beach at Xanemos is located in a small cove about three kilometres north-east of Skiathos Town and sits at the end of the island's airport runway.
As aircraft take off from the Xanemos end of the runway it can get pretty noisy and the recent extension of the runway right up to the beach adds both to the thrill and the noise.
The name Xanemos translates as windy and the beach is exposed to the northern 'meltemi' winds so visitors can expect fresh breezes and larger swells in the water.
A small cantina opens on the beach in the high summer serving the basics and there is a roadside taverna nearby.
A few sunbeds are placed along the shore but there are no other facilities here so this is a getaway beach for those who prefer to escape the Skiathos crowds.
Although quite remote, the beach is fairly easy to get to with a good paved road from Skiathos Town, a daily bus service and plenty of parking space at the back of the beach.
There is a coastal footpath to Xanemos with good views across the water to Skopelos from the cliff walk and walking is easy as this part of Skiathos island is fairly flat.
As the beach as Xanemos doesn't get too many summer visitors, it has become popular with naturists, although it's not an official island nudist beach.
